The 00 winery is the complete opposite of the Willamette Valley, they specialise in Chardonnay not Pinot Noir, and their burgeoning project to this noble grape has drawn plenty of acclaim in a very short space of time. This husband and wife team have worked tirelessly on both site and clonal selection whilst being led to a unique style of winemaking known as "black chardonnay" by Pierre Millemann, if it can work for Coche and Roulot why not you?
A long, slow, heavy pressing post a cold maceration allows a big and full extraction with heavy oxidation. The phenols remove the browning/blackening of the juice leaving a full rich and stable chardonnay that has set tongues wagging around the globe. VGW short hand for very good wine.
Rich notes of peach and pineapple, a little nougat, wet mineral stone and limey citrus, cashew nuts and a mealiness balanced by plush stone fruit buttressed by stern yet harmonious acidity. Only 2000 cases total production were made in this year, so suffice to say there is not much to go around. Don't get caught napping.
