Bernhard Huber is one of the most renowned domains of the modern era in Germany. He didnt come from a centuries long line of historic tradition, he humbly went about his work in Baden's hamlet of Materdinger forging a reputation of quiet excellence. With a friend and mentor in Jaques Seysses of Dujac fame who has cut a similar path, this is not the Dujac of Baden, but a domaine that seeks the best version of its own place.
This Weiss is a blend mostly of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, lemon pith, melon and grapefruit with a little white peach. Smoke and and a little reduction on the nose show a doff of the cap to burgundy but the spice and texture of the Weiss Burgunder really put the focus back on Huber and their steadfast focus on the details of their own terroir.
