Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is a prestigious second growth Chateau in Saint Julien. The estate has 75 ha of vineyards encircling the Chateau, taking its name from its uniquely rocky terroir “beau caillou” translates as “beautiful stones”, and Bertrand Ducru who purchased the estate in 1795, what we know today as Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou as a wine producing estate, has history stretching back to the 13th century.
The vineyards anchored on deep gravel and pebble soils are planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The Chateau is widely considered a ‘super-second’, consistently producing a deeply coloured rich and powerful wine with tremendous capacity to age.
Still in its original timber case these have excellent labels and fill levels in the base of the neck.
