Domaine de la Romanee-Conti or more affectionately referred to as DRC is perhaps the most fabled and revered estate in not only Burgundy but the whole world of wine. Coveted by kings and queens as well as fanatical collectors these wines comand attention by the mere utterance of those three letters, DRC.

A production that is strictly from Grand Cru vineyards not only adds to their regal reputation but ensures that they sit in an echelon all to themselves, owning several monopoles as well as the lions share of vineyards that other producers have a stake in.

Their expression of terroir is seen as the quintessence of what red Burgundy is, but there is also their much coveted Le Montrachet, their only white wine that is released, which unsurprisingly is Grand Cru also. A fabled Batard-Montrachet exists, but in such a minuscule amount of 2 barrels per vintage it's kept for enjoyment strictly at the Domaine.

If you are fortunate enough to taste DRC, count yourself lucky, between small production and astronomical prices this is a rare Domaine with even rarer wines.

Marc de Bourgogne is one of 30 classified eau de vie origins in France and this coming from the famed holdings of DRC and its Grand Cru wines. This is the must of Pinot Noir distilled from the 1995 vintage and bottled in 2015. This is a dry fruit spirit from the skins and seeds without any grape juice at all, heady and powerful.
