Gramenon was founded in 1978 and is located in Montbrison-Sur-Lez in the most northern part of the southern Côtes du Rhône area at an altitude of 350-metres. Managed by Michèle Aubery since the passing of her husband in the late 90's, she is now assisted by her son Maxime François Laurent, a talented wine maker in his own right.
Rarely do wines of Cotes du Rhone status cause such a fervor, but the beauty of the terroir accompanied by Michele and Maxime's skill and understanding of their surrounds creates wines of place and exceptional beauty that are eagerly awaited and enjoyed for their deft touch, purity and complexity.
La Sagesse is a beautiful and detailed wine from 60 year old vines from the estate holdings. Pretty, perfumed and with a fine structure that the importer likens to Chambolle Musigny in comparison. Always elegant La Sagesse is the quintessential Gramenon cuvee.
