Yes the famous surname says a lot, Overnoy, but a different branch of this illustrious family. Guillaume Overnoy has returned to the family estate in 2013 and has quickly set about conversion to organic practices and a determined focus that has taken the estate along in leaps and bounds year after year. Their vineyards are planted to the 5 classic varieties of the Jura, Cahrdonnay and Savagnin for the whites, Pinot Noir Trousseau and Poulsard for the reds.
From vines near Cesancey and aged for two years in barrel - Ouille, or topped up like in Burgundy, this shows the warm tone of 2018 but is Jurassically bright, citric and floral with clear fresh and direct presence. You can feel and taste the limestone soils in the mouth where the saline infused flavours linger on.
Fans of Labet's Chardonnay 'Cuvee Fleurs' will find much to like here and much similarity, this is a super wine and an excellent Jura entry point for the vinously curious.
