Tempier is seen as one of the standard bearers for the Bandol appellation, farming in the region since 1834 they have long championed Mourvèdre and the elegance it can achieve. Farming a sizeable 38 hectares of vines in a minimal interventionist way they are credited with showing what brilliant results this region can produce.
This is a blend comprised from all the vineyards that is approx 70-75% Mourvedre, supported by Grenache, Cinsault and some Carignan. Showing a deep ruby colour, aromas of bitter chocolate, dark fruit and undergrowth. Strident yet smooth tannins abound. After 5 or 6 years of bottle age, the wine will develop notes of leather, animal and small red fruit.
This was the last vintage that the legendary matriarch Lulu Peyraud oversaw at 101 years of age.
