In 2005 as part of the new wave of young victorian winemakers, the South Pack as they were know, James Lance and his wife Claire took over the vineyard he grew up on and set up Punch, their own label embracing hands on minimal intervention wine making.

The bushfires of 2009 started an adjunct, Friends of Punch, when large parts of their vineyards were damaged and the fruit destroyed by smoke taint, they purchased fruit from friends in the winemaking community so they could salvage something from disaster, an idea they have kept alive to this day, showcasing beautiful fruit grown by their friends and peers.

This is a cracking little sparkling from Chardonnay and Savagnin, on lees for 40 months in bottle made in the Rurale or Petilliant Natural method.

Zippy and fresh citrus, pears and white flowers, a soft fine yet persistent fizz with a little leesyness adding character, this is an excellent bottle at any time of the day.
