Henschke, one of Australia’s oldest family-owned wineries, has been making wine for over 150 years. The respect for history, passion and care that current custodians Prue and Stephen have continued to carry out truly makes this one of the finest estates in Australia, with some of the oldest vines in the world.
Coming from their coolest site, this label is an homage to the founding father Johan from the Cyril Henshcke vineyard planted in 1968, to mark 150 years of wine making history.
Lifted cool and fine the long ripening season of 2017 is definitely on show, garrigue, roses, blue fruits and cedar on the nose make way to a deep and rich palate that is plush, spiked with pepper and red currants with a lick of vanilla as the structure releases its grip for a long and fine finish.
Just more proof that the single vineyards here are just so special at any level they turn their hand to.
