Jérôme Prévost is a much lauded micro grower producer based in the village of Gueux, Mountain de Reims. Another vanguardist who is primarily working with a tiny quantity of remarkable, age worthy Pinot Meunier from a single, two hectare plot of forty year old vines, essentially making one wine in a small handful of interpretations.

Starting out in 1988 with the help and guidance of Anselme Selosse these are wines that have slowly but emphatically caught the worlds attention, a former artist that has an undeniable talent with wine.

This new bottling from Prévost has debuted with the 2019 vintage and is comprised from grapes from outside his vineyard. The base wine is a blend of equal parts Chardonnay from Le Mesnil and Pinot Noir from Puisieulx, at the northern end of the Montagne de Reims. Then, there is 20% reserve wine from 2018. Both sites are farmed by a couple Jérôme refers to as talented growers, who work their parcels in the same manner as he does with the focus on health, low yields and full ripeness.

Like all Prevost, this is a wine first and a champagne second, enjoy it in a large glass for all the vinous complexities to shine. Disgorged October 2021.
