A native of the Jura, Nicolas Jacob came to wine from farming vegetables. Having worked at Domaine Maclet in Chateau Chalon, Nicolas then spent a number of years with Jean Francois Ganevat finishing up as his right hand man.

What started as a small acquisition of 1 hectare in 2015 has now slowly spread to a little over 5 spread around a few different sites. He is makeing deft wine that is quite fine and pure, highly detailed and unfortunately rare.

Trousseau from 2019 was Jacob’s first harvest of his newly reclaimed vines in Augea, a village near Revermont in the southern part of the Jura coming from 2 distinct parcels blended together.

Snappy bright red fruits with a softness at the edge, floral with puff of vanilla and violets. The acidity is fine running long carrying the unexpected but excellent weight and volume the fruit possesses at no expense to the precision. Excellent.
