Pierre Gonon is synonomous with the appelation of Saint-Joseph in the Northern Rhone. Standard bearers of style, typicity and quality that is steeped in wine making traditions and vineyard management that have barely changed since their inception so long ago.
Now run by his sons since 1988, the Gonon wines are highly coveted for their elegant and pure representation of Syrah. The Iles Foray cuvee uses some parcels that fall outside of the Saint-Jospeh borders hence the Vins du Pays classification.
Dark of fruit with a vibrant floral nose, smoky small goods and spices. There is a supple almost velvet fluidity that really shows the elegance of this straight Syrah and comes at a snip compared to their classified Saint-Joseph wines.
