Vignobles Levet are a classic producer of Cote Rotie with all of their holdings in some of the great vineyards of Ampuis. Careful farming and manual harvesting for four generations has seen this modest size Domaine carve out an excellent reputation of quality.
Their vineyards are comprised of Petite Serine an old clone of Shiraz that produces smaller berried bunches with most of their vines planted pre 1950.
La Peroline is their top cuvée, coming solely from La Chavaroche which sits over old granite & schist soils. A wine of power, a deep purple hue, a nose of blue black fruit, spices and liquorice, a great length in the mouth revealing the minerality of the schists on which it is grown and a strong casting of tannin woven tightly through it.
The cellaring potential of this producer is always exceptional and we encourage tucking a few of these away.
