Michael Dhillion is considered one of the top wine makers of Australia, producing some of the finest Chardonnay and Pinot Noir expressions from the Bindi property in Gisborne, as well as a slowly emerging stable Grenache and Shiraz based wines from nearby Heathcote and surrounds.

The vineyard at Bindi is the manifest vision of Michael's father Bill with the help and counsel of Stuart Anderson, that has gone on to become a bastion of sustainable viticulture turning out wines of extreme pedigree.

For almost 20 years Michael has been working on what was once named Bundaleer which was renamed Pyrette after just a few vintages. The fruit coming from high up in Colbinabbin off of rich red Cambrian soils. Shiraz with the elegance and lightness of someone who works with Pinot Noir.

Gently handled this is raised in 1000 litre vats and french oak casks, supple, silky and smooth-a clear snapshot of the year in question. Pretty and vibrant on the nose sitting bright and silky on the palate. A refined and harmonious rendition of shiraz that is full of finesse and eminently drinkable.

It pays to always have a nice cache of this for when friends drop around.
