Cheval Blanc, perhaps the most famous White Horse there is, a unique Chateau in terms of not only its location and terroir, but its fastidious level of detail and research. No stone, literally, has been left unturned in the pursuit of knowledge, balance and flavour. The 44 different plots that are spread over three distinct soil types, are meticulously documented, vine by vine, plot by plot to see what is best suited and where.

The estate is seen as one of the few at the pinnacle of Saint Emilion but has much more in common with its illustrious neighbours in Pomerol. It's plantings made up of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot, it's minuscule amount of Cabernet Sauvignon being removed in recent times. An estate famed for its aromatic freshness and sparkling detail in the glass, their reputation has never been in doubt.

1982 Cheval Blanc was a little different in its blend, 60% Cabernet Franc along with 34% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon and quite out of character was 5% Malbec. Its detailed freshness, aromatics and its classic touch of smoke all present. A great wine to be long lived from a stunning vintage.

Still in the original timber case, the labels are near on perfect with fill levels in the base of the neck.
