Although the Chateau has been in existence since the late 1700's it wasnt until it came to the steady ownership of the Caze familly of Lynch Bages fame that it slowly developeed a reputation of its own.

Solid made clarets that age well is what their renown is, although they have never played to their close links with Lynch Bages, the wines were made their in the early years until suitable renovations were undertaken to redevelop their own modest facilities. Now in modern times the team at Lynch Bages has helped revamp the vineyards and the farming and there is truly some exceptional value from this estate year after year.

The vineyards are situated in the north of the Saint Estephe commune on the Médoc peninsula, close to the Gironde Estuary and the Atlantic Ocean. The 35 hectares are planted with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The Cabernets flourish on the gravelly parcels composed of quartz and rolled pebbles, while the Merlot are best suited to the cooler, sandy/clay terroirs.

This is a well made claret that has stood the test of time, very well cellared and with excellent fill levels, gently unfurled in a decanter this shows remarkably well for such a humble wine.
