Since 1865 only three families have had stewardship of one of the most popular of all Domaines/Chateau, revered for its quality, consistency and value. Situated on on a unique plot of gravel, clay and black sand hemmed in by forrest on a small plateau.
The Domaine has been under the care of the Oliver Bernard since 1983 who was only 23 at the time. Attention to detail, thoughtful expansion and an ability to manage adverse vintage conditions have solidified the already impressive reputation of the estate.
Planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, a swathe of Merlot with pockets of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Vinification has always been traditional with between 18-24 months elevage in oak of which about 1/3 has been new. Time in bottle has always proven to be the key to evolution of their wines across the decades.
A classic medium weight that has concentration and elegance, cedar, tobacco, spice and cigar smoke abound along with turned earth and wet leather.
These bottles have excellent fill levels, labels and capsules, being stored in their original timber crates.
