Jean-Baptiste Semmartin has started his small domaine in Jurancon, a small appellate at the foot of the Pyrenees where his vines are planted out to Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and Petit Courbu.
The Carmeret is one of two bone dry whites he makes, a mouth watering wine with chiseled fruit and tense minerality and a beautiful pale gold hue. The wines voluptuous nature is perfectly balanced, rendered svelte and fluid with an energy and brightness that have made these wines a bit of a cult item.
He, for sure, is a rising star of the appellation.
