Famille Savary is a generational domaine based in Maligny in Chablis, started by Francine and Olivier in 1984 and now being joined by their two sons since 2015. Having around 20 hectares across 17 different villages, their reputation for wines of quality whilst being quintessential to the terroir and traditions of the region.
Covering the spectrum from petit chablis to grand cru their wines come from slopes redolent with clay and limestone on ancient Kimmeridgian soils. Working instep with nature and biodiversity their gravity fed winery is a mix of steel tanks and older oak formats to capitalise on the nuances of their many plots.
This 100% Pinot Noir benefits from the same mineral edge and drive as the whites of Chablis, its juicy, vibrant and with that fresh mineral edge that helps shape the wine deliciously. A little pepper and lacy tannins on an elegant frame make this an absolute cracker.
An outlier in terms of its point of origin in Chablis as opposed to Beaune or Nuits but it is an excellent bright juicy bottle of Bourgogne Rouge that really hits the spot.
