In 1983 Ian and June Marks found their vineyard site after a long search for the perfect pocket of land throughout almost every wine region in Victoria. With views of Mt Donna Buang, a backdrop of the Warburton ranges, red soil and a coveted north-easterly aspect, it is the perfect spot for cool climate winemaking.

Gembrook Hill are today one of the oldest vineyards in the Upper Yarra sub-region.

After the introduction in 2017 of the 'IJM' Pinot in honour of late Gembrook Hill founder Ian Marks, current winemaker Andrew Marks has added the 'JKM' Pinot in honour of his still-working mother, June Marks. This wine gives Andrew a chance to experiment a bit in the winery, with one third new oak and one third whole bunch employed to add extra depth and complexity.

Only two barrels produced in 2022

A modern Australian pinot noir, primary fruited and open, with acidity tempering things rather than tannin. Gorgeous.
