Mataburro is the name of small Domaine established in Roussillon by rising stars Laurent Roger and Melissa Ingrand. Their wines are made natural, showing balance, vibrancy and deliciousness.

Having worked for several years at the venerable Paris bar à vin Le Verre Volé, Laurent returned to Roussillon to work with the one and only Alain Castex, then of Le Casot des Mailloles.

Towards the end of 2017, armed with what he had learned from Castex, he and Melissa took over the remaining three hectare vineyard from his father and are returning it to its organic past. In 2019 they started working in biodynamics, extensively planting cover crops to improve the soil quality and vineyard bio-diversity which was the bedrock of Castex’s teaching.

Idoine 2020 is 100% Merlot from vines that are 30 – 40 years old which were planted by Laurent’s father, having a 5 day semi carbonic maceration this is then split into tow steel tanks, one with pigeage and one withoutand then blended together post fermentation it rest a little before bottling. Lightly floral with moderate fruit weight this is a deceptively light style red similar in pitch to the Jura, lush with strawberries and light herbs from a place who's merlot based wines are historically rather robust and tannic allowing the region to be viewed from a refreshing new angle..
