Grant Dixon has been in and around the wine industry for a very long time, be it in the wine trade or in restaurants, sometimes both at the same time. This collection of "collab" wines under his Otherness label show a coming together of friendships and ideas that look at the Barossa in a different light but also through the lens of his other passion, music.

Once an oboist in the Australian Symphony, through his collaboration on the vinous side the end result has a musical tie in along its path. This is a very un-Barossan shiraz, lets get this out in the open, but it is exceptional for that reason.

Teaming up with Dan Standish of The Standish Wine Co. fame, this is Barossa via Saint Joseph with a doff of the cap to Burgundy. Whole bunches that were picked early and femented cool, bringing blue fruits and a savoury, herbal edge with an amaro tinge. Being elevaged on gross lees in Burgundian concrete eggs has made this all about fruit of a place, and that place is the Barossa but cut against the grain for all the right reasons.

Considered and composed, but as Grant has said, with a tension, an axiety to it to hit the unfamiliar top notes as opposed to the classic bottom register. There were only 800 bottles of this made and its fantastic. We cant wait to see what comes next in this exciting series of wines.
