Champagne Paul Launois may be a new name in the scheme of things in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, but their history in the village go back 3 generations having made wine at the local co-op after selling most of their fruit to Krug and Salon from their 16 acres of vines in one of the greatest terroirs on earth.

Formerly known as Jean-Pierre Lunois, this change came about when current custodians Julian and Sarah became part of the vanguardist Champagne movement that has seen a new approach and ideas to what high quality Champagne can be, having purchased a small cellar they have set about making high quality high concept champagne that embraces art, tradition and excitement all bound to a sense of place.

Toast, saline and the distinct layering of oak, this is the third iteration of the Illustration cuvee and flips the elevage on its head. Unlike Composition and Monochrome only 10% of the base sees time in tank, and the 15% of reserve wine has all come from barrel which shows its depth and woodiness with grace and style. 

Layers of toast and mineral, a richness from the oak but expressive of the chalky terroir on which its grown.
