Set up by Restauranteur Tom Lazar in the early 70's, Virgin Hills was one of the early cool climate reds to make an impact in Australia. Rated favourably by Halliday in what was then seen a marginal vineyard from a marginal GI, Virgin Hills produced Bordeaux like wines of lighter leafy character and structure far different from the richer robust reds that were most prevalent at the time.
Labels are excellent if a little crooked, and fill levels high shoulder or better, Some capsules have oxidised but corks remain in great condition.
